Drawing
Teacher: Lala Ragimov
Lala Ragimov has been active as a fine artist and illustrator as well as art instructor since 1999. Her work and teaching are influenced by the baroque and renaissance artistic traditions. She is currently working on her Master of Fine Arts degree in illustration at the California State University, Long Beach.
In class students will learn fundamentals of drawing from life, shading, color, and perspective. They will also copy old master drawings to learn technique and style as well as art history. All projects will be adjusted to the level of each student.
Class Time:
Sundays, 5:00 - 6:00 pm
Tuition:
$10 / 1-hr lesson
Supplies Needed
(required by the teacher):
- Graphite pencils: H, B or/and 2B
- Charcoal pencils: the best are "Ritmo" charcoal (HB) pencils - closest place to buy is Walser's (in Torrance). If not Ritmo, General's charcoal (Hard or Medium) is the cheap alternative for younger children.
- Erasers: a kneaded eraser and a "magic rub" or any other regular eraser.
- Paper: white or buff or grey paper for sketching, approximately 9x12, can be in a sketchbook, but even regular printing paper will do. It would be good to have some nicer drawing paper for long drawings and cheaper for sketches, though it's not mandatory.
- Watercolour paper and paints - we'll need them later. No recommendation for the brand yet. If the children hava any supplies at home already, they're welcome to bring them.
